Utah Qwel Class Graduates

Training classes are for landscape industry professionals seeking to obtain certification. The trainings consist of 2 and ½ days of training and 1/2 day of testing. Classes are taught under the direction of Utah State University Extension Service. Certification is provided by the Utah Nursery and Landscape Association. Companies employing QWEL certified technicians may advertise the QWEL credentials of their company but the certifications are for individual professionals and remain with the individual. CEU’s can be earned for QWEL and the Irrigation Association. 15.5 CEU’s are available to those that attend.

  • QWEL is one of two approved US EPA WaterSense Irrigation
    Auditor certification programs in the nation.
  • QWEL provides 21 hours of educational training in irrigation
    system design & maintenance, programming & operation.
  • Qualified Water Efficient Landscapers (QWEL) are recognized by QWEL the EPA WaterSense program, the Central Iron County Water Conservancy district, USU Extension, Washington County Water Conservancy District & the Utah Nursery and Landscape Association as landscape professionals that are making a positive impact towards reducing landscape water demand. Both the United States Environmental Protection Agency (US EPA) WaterSense program and QWEL share the common goal of conserving water resources and promoting the importance of water efficiency. QWEL is the second approved US EPA WaterSense Irrigation Auditor certification programs in the nation and was developed in cooperation with the California Landscape Contractors Association, Sonoma County Water Agency, City of Santa Rosa, Marin Municipal Water District and the colleges of Santa Rosa and Marin. In 2010, Utah State University & the Central Iron County Water Conservancy District because certified to teach the

In order to become a Qualified Water Efficient Landscaper participants will need to complete a 120-question exam with a passing score of 75% or better. Annual continuing Education Units (CEU’s) will be required in order to keep QWEL certification current.
